the birds

I am up on The Great Barrier Reef this week for a field course. One of the student has a bird phobia. I didn't realise people can developed bird phobias. It is known as ornithophobia.

Poor student. The island is full of birds. They are absolutely everywhere. You can hear them chattering all day and all night. Sometimes they even fly into you. It's the unpredictability of the birds that the student finds most scary...one minute they are sitting on the ground and the next they are flapping everywhere.

It's because the leading actor, Rod Taylor, is so cute.

In fact Ad Rad, Rod Taylor was cute but he has certainly lost that cuteness to such an extent that he portrayed Winston Churchill in 'Inglourious Bastards' and was so changed that I didn't recognise him at all!

Before he became a 'star' Taylor was a window dresser in the old Mark Foys store in Sydney and you know what 'window dresser' is often a euphemism for!
