The fancy electric car

I had to give a talk yesterday to a bunch of high school kids and took one of the new university vehicles out to the school. It was one of those fancy hybrid electric cars. The vehicle drove well but I was overwhelmed by how different it was from a regular car. There were too many new things to try to figure out, from the button needed to turn on the car to the 'gear stick'. The lack of a key also felt a bit weird. I guess I am conditioned to old technology.

My kids have asked about these cars as I am always telling them that by the time they are old enough to drive they will have a car that does not run on gas or petrol...or diesel like our Pathfinder.
Very interesting. Yeah, I guess we all take a bit of time to get used to new things.

I actually thought it was compulsory for all pretenious inner city types to love the Prius.

Cazzie: I think it is a good idea, in principle, but will take a while to catch on.

ICT: Most inner city types are still obsessed with four wheel drives. I catch public transport.

'I catch public transport'

Well I don't want to be pedantic (but that is the natural default setting for an inner city type), but you actually do drive, as showcased by your article about driving the Prius.

Very similar to the Inner City Type 'vegetarians' who 'just' eat fish, chicken and a little bit of red meat. Anyway I digress.

I would be very surprised if this school you visited wasn't serviced by public transport.

Yep the school is, indeed, serviced by public transport. Unfortunately, there were no buses scheduled for the time I was suppose to talk to the kiddies.
